Enjoy coffee with Croydon’s award-winning home birth team

New mums and those planning a pregnancy are invited to find out more about Croydon’s award winning ‘Crocus’ home birth team at a coffee morning in Coulsdon next week (Friday 21 February).
The team, made up of five midwives, will be hosting their first ever community coffee morning for women in the local area to hear about the benefits of a home birth, share their stories and get their questions answered by the team.
Lead midwife Kelly Sawyer, who last year was honoured as Emma’s Diary Mums’ Midwife of the Year 2019 for the London region, says:
“Croydon midwives deliver over 3,600 babies every year and we’re encouraging those who are considering a home birth to come and find out more from us. Choosing to give birth at home can be one of the best decisions parents can make.
“Women who choose to give birth at home often feel more in control, more comfortable and need less pain relief. It is also just as safe as a hospital birth for mums at low risk of complications.
“Everyone is welcome at our coffee morning - whether you’re planning a pregnancy, already pregnant and considering your birthing options or you’ve had a home birth and want to share your experience. Come along to see us – and of course, babies are more than welcome!”
Women can pop in to visit the team at Byron Children’s Centre, Saint David’s in Coulsdon from 9:30am to 12:30pm on Friday 21 February.
With award-winning midwives and state of the art facilities, women who choose to have their baby with Croydon Health Services NHS Trust are given expert advice and support throughout their maternity journey. We’re with you all the way, from discovery to birth and beyond.
